Formed in 1999 through the merger of Marconi Electronic Systems and British Aerospace, it develops, manufactures and supports products and systems covering air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology and support services. It is the largest defence contractor in Europe and is involved in major programmes including the F-35 Lightning II, the Eurofighter Typhoon, and Astute, Dreadnought and SSN-AUKUS submarines.
