Lancashire County Council is the upper-tier local authority (county council) for the county of Lancashire in England, based at County Hall in Preston. It is responsible for delivering county-level public services including schools, libraries, roads, waste disposal, public health, and social care for vulnerable children and older people. The council formally came into being on 1 April 1889 and consists of 84 councillors.
