Apprenticeships Business Development Manager

Based: London / Hybrid Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Hours:   37.5 hours per week, permanent, fulltime

Walbrook Institute London is seeking to appoint an Apprenticeships Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in converting high-quality employer demand into funded apprenticeship opportunities and learner starts.

This is a critical role for our Apprenticeships function, focused on ensuring that employer engagement translates effectively into DfE-compliant, commercially viable apprenticeship vacancies.

Role Overview: You will work closely with our Sales team to take forward qualified leads and shape them into structured apprenticeship opportunities, working consultatively with employers to design solutions that meet workforce needs and funding requirements.

This role sits at the heart of the sales-to-start journey, ensuring a seamless transition from employer engagement through to learner enrolment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert employer leads into apprenticeship vacancies and learner starts
  • Conduct employer needs analysis and design appropriate apprenticeship solutions
  • Ensure all opportunities are compliant with DWP funding rules
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Admissions, and Delivery teams
  • Manage a structured pipeline and tracking conversion performance

Skills and Qualification: Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in business development and employer engagement, or apprenticeship sales.
  • Strong understanding of apprenticeship funding rules.
  • Demonstrable experience of converting leads into commercial or enrolment outcomes.
  • Experience managing pipelines and CRM systems.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent consultative selling and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate employer need into structured apprenticeship solutions
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance awareness
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Strong organisational and planning capability

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within a training provider, or FE environment
  • Knowledge of multiple apprenticeship standards and sectors
  • Experience working within a sales-to-start or enrolment conversion model

This is a hybrid role with occasional trips to the London office and national travel as required.  However, we would require the successful post-holder to attend meetings and/or workshop activities at our London Office where necessary.
