We're looking for an experienced and customer-focused Building Surveyor to join Peabody’s Repairs Team, taking ownership of a varied caseload of repairs, disrepair cases, voids and specialist property issues across North West London.

This is a field-based role where you'll be the technical expert for your patch, working closely with residents, contractors and colleagues to diagnose building defects, manage works from start to finish and ensure customers receive a high-quality service every step of the way.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your own caseload while being part of a collaborative team focused on delivering great outcomes for residents and achieving value for money.

What you’ll be doing

As a Building Surveyor, you will:

  • Conduct property inspections and surveys across your patch.
  • Diagnose defects including damp, mould, roofing and structural issues.
  • Manage repairs and specialist cases from inspection through to completion.
  • Produce technical reports, specifications and recommendations.
  • Monitor contractor performance and quality of works.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, building regulations and Peabody standards.

About you

You'll be a confident and organised surveyor who can manage multiple cases while delivering an excellent customer experience.

You'll have:

  • Building surveying, repairs or property maintenance experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building defects and repair solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring value for money.
  • A relevant degree, HNC/HND, or be working towards a building surveying qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Social housing experience is desirable but not essential.

Why Join Us?

  • 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Flexible benefits package – including healthcare, dental, and lifestyle discounts.
  • 4x life assurance.
  • Ongoing training and development, including qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Two additional paid volunteering days each year.
  • Up to 10% matched pension contribution.

Please note: Peabody is unable to provide sponsorship as a licensed UK employer.

Interview Dates

  • First stage interviews will be held via Teams on Friday 13th November
  • Second stage interviews will be held in person at our Ealing office on 19th – 20th November
