Position Overview

We are looking for a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager to grow our Heavy Equipment Rental offering across the UK. This is a high-impact role focused on winning new business, expanding existing customer relationships, and driving rental revenue growth. You will work closely with a well-established sales network while building your own pipeline of opportunities within sectors such as earthmoving, quarrying, and waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive rental sales growth by developing and executing a strategic territory plan
  • Win new business by identifying and engaging prospective customers across the UK
  • Grow existing accounts by introducing and expanding rental solutions
  • Collaborate with sales teams to unlock cross-selling opportunities and maximise customer value
  • Manage a strong sales pipeline, converting opportunities into long-term partnerships
  • Influence senior stakeholders with compelling, solution-led sales propositions
  • Own commercial performance, including pricing, negotiations, and contract management
  • Ensure smooth delivery by working closely with operational, finance, and support teams
  • Maintain healthy accounts by managing invoicing, receivables, and dispute resolution

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in plant or heavy equipment rental sales (5+ years)
  • Strong track record of achieving or exceeding sales and revenue targets
  • Ability to develop new business and build long-term customer relationships
  • Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills, including C-level engagement
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and contract management experience
  • Knowledge of earthmoving, quarry, or waste sectors
  • Understanding of rental market dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Confident in sales planning, pipeline management, and opportunity conversion
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field (desirable)
  • Experience with Caterpillar equipment (advantageous)
