As a Quantity Surveyor / Supply Chain professional you will join a team of cost managers, procurement professionals and project managers on a variety of projects in the energy power sector. Your role will support the formation of effective category / commercial strategies, contract procurement, and commercial administration of contracts during the execution phase to help support the safe delivery of value for money solutions of the client's programme, projects and business objectives.

As a key driver in the successful formation and execution of the commercial strategy, you will build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as Project Manager, Engineering, Marine, Estimating and accounts teams and the selected supply chain.

Role Accountabilities

  • Provide support to the Commercial and Procurement Management Team
  • Work with collaborative behaviours, in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation
  • Support the development of effective commercial strategies including acquisition and contracting at programme, project and category as appropriate
  • Produce high-quality Tender Documentation, including collation of Works Information and other contract documents
  • Manage and monitor progress of variations or RFQ's (Request for Quotations)
  • Assess and value Contractor's applications and process payment certificates in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions
  • Administer the Early Warning process
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are met
  • Review Contractor deliveries including where appropriate attending valuation and progress review meetings
  • Monitor and report on commercial aspects of the contract/procurement activities and/or project flagging issues at the earliest opportunity
  • Provide advice and information on contract change including proposed scope changes, recommend appropriate action, and produce required documentation
  • Prepare commercial cost reports and progress measurement
  • Compile Supplier Performance and Lessons Learnt Reports

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working as part of a team within a commercial environment
  • Experience of industry standard procurement practices
  • Production of high-quality Tender Documentation, including collation of Works Information and other contract documents
  • Experience of Payment applications & certificates
  • Experience of Assessing Compensation Events/Variations
  • Experience of Early Warning Notices
  • Experience of Final Account assessments
  • Experience of Cost audits
  • Experience of utilisation of contract management systems and finance systems
  • Experience in Forms of Contract (NEC and/or FIDIC) within the construction industry and major projects and programme environment (power, oil & gas, water, rail, etc.), ideally power
  • Understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management
  • Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential
  • Effective commercial / contract management in both pre- and post-contract skills are essential, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies
  • Experience working within a regulated sector would be beneficial
  • Membership of (or working toward) the RICS / CIPS / CICES / IOB or equivalent professional body
  • Specific project experience with delivery of HV cables, subsea cables, HV equipment in Offshore setting is welcomed
  • Background in Offshore Renewables is beneficial; however, applications from those with relevant transferable experience are welcome
