Aureos is a growing business seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within the SPN Business Unit as part of the Commercial team. We work collaboratively with customers to deliver critical national infrastructure projects across the UK.

About the Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercial reporting and maximising profit. You will be responsible for assisting the commercial team in completing and maintaining well organised records, contribution to the timely production of applications for payment and accurate project reporting.

Reporting to: Regional Commercial Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of application and credit control processes
  • Management of optimisation of income
  • Management of all processes regarding costing and forecasting
  • Management of change control system
  • Input into the management of project risk
  • Management of CTC and CVRs
  • Management of the full sub-contract cycle
  • Provision of commercial advice to Project Team
  • Development of team spirit and trustworthiness within Project Commercial Team and with Client and S/C
  • Management of dispute resolution
  • Communications within the Project Commercial Team and with the Project Team
  • Management of Training plans
  • Input into the tendering process

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met
  • Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI's
  • Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement
  • Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base
  • Assisting with the use of key lean tools to drive efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Encourage, support and assist with the delivery of successful collaborative planning with the contract delivery teams
  • Commitment to their own professional development, and that of others across the Business Unit
  • Other tasks appropriate to the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor, as identified by Regional Commercial Manager/Commercial Manager

Performance Expectations

Targets will be set and reviewed on a 6 monthly basis, aligned with the responsibilities and behaviours listed within this job description. The Senior Quantity Surveyor is expected to deliver:

  • Timely achievement of forecast figures for turnover, profit and income
  • Timely production of accurate internal accounts and internal/external reports/audits
  • Timely production of accurate cost and forecasting information
  • Robust and up to date change control system. Prompt agreement of and payment for changes. Risk registers frequently reviewed and updated
  • Successful well managed sub-contract life spans with few or no disputes and payments made on time
  • A commercially well informed, qualified and professional Project Commercial Team with few quickly resolved project disputes
  • Up to date records/reports/libraries of standard documents
  • Significant contribution to the tendering, and contract review processes

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree educated or HND/HNC equivalent
  • Substantial experience working in contracting commercial department
  • Experience of on multi-disciplined HV/LV Infrastructure projects is desirable, working with DNO's and Private Networks experience is preferrable
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages (Excel)

Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Driving license
  • Use of ERP systems such as COINS
  • Hold or working toward Professional Qualification
  • Working knowledge of construction industry conditions of contract
