About the role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most complex and strategically important infrastructure and engineering programmes within Babcock's Naval Nuclear business. Working at the heart of the defence sector, you'll provide commercial leadership across major projects, helping to ensure successful delivery while protecting commercial interests, managing risk, and maximising value.
You'll collaborate with project teams, suppliers, and customers to support programmes that contribute directly to national security and critical public infrastructure. In return, you'll gain exposure to high-profile projects, develop your commercial expertise in a highly regulated environment, and build a long-term career with a global engineering organisation.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Responsibilities
- Managing commercial activities across infrastructure and engineering projects throughout the contract lifecycle
- Supporting contract administration, commercial governance, and financial performance management
- Administering NEC3 and/or JCT contracts, including change management and compensation events
- Collaborating with project managers, suppliers, finance teams, and stakeholders to manage commercial risk and deliver project objectives
- Developing commercial strategies, monitoring costs, and contributing to successful project delivery outcomes
Essential experience
- Strong commercial management experience within engineering and/or construction environments
- Detailed knowledge and practical application of NEC3 and/or JCT contracts
- Experience supporting large, complex contracts, bids, and commercial strategies
- Strong understanding of cost control, change management, compensation events, and commercial risk management
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders and supply chain partners to achieve project milestones
Essential qualifications
- Degree, or equivalent qualification, in Quantity Surveying or Building Services Quantity Surveying
Desirable qualifications
- Professional membership or working towards chartered status with a relevant professional body
- Additional commercial or contract management qualifications
Security clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
