About the Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial team, you will work on projects ranging from £2k to £6m, with an average of £6k. You will embrace commercial responsibility for a portfolio of works across multiple projects on a reactive framework.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train and provide support to a dedicated Commercial Team
  • Provide advice, support and information to Commercial Team / Project Staff on commercial and contractual matters
  • Review and draft correspondence
  • Manage and produce formal reports for Senior Management
  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Ensure timely submissions of applications for payments
  • Operate the change process on NEC4 contracts
  • Identify and manage opportunities and risk
  • Settle final Accounts with Clients and sub-contractors in line with agreed terms and conditions
  • Assist with tenders, both in terms of formulating and review
  • Comply with and promote the company safety policy and evidence good behaviours that support Core Values

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a contracting environment
  • Experience within the Civil Engineering / Rail sector
  • HND / HNC Level 4 / Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
  • RCIS / CES membership

Skills, Competencies and Personal Qualities

  • Ability to pass on knowledge, guide and support team members with their L&D
  • Strong IT skills, especially with Microsoft packages
  • Strong Numeracy skills
  • Ability to work methodically, using own initiative and unsupervised
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • A calm yet inquisitive nature, comfortable with questioning and challenging issues when needed
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with stakeholders and other team members on all levels
  • Prioritises well and works effectively to deadlines
  • Customer focused and can reach resolutions with issues
