Seloxium Limited is a specialist precious metal recovery business, working with mining operations to recover high-value materials from waste streams. We are a fast-paced company at an exciting stage of development, scaling our operations across two sites — an R&D laboratory and back office function in Oxford and a pilot processing plant in the North East of England.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially experienced professional with a background in the chemical or engineering industries to play a pivotal role in driving Seloxium's business growth. You will develop and execute business development strategies, identify new market opportunities, and build lasting client relationships on a global stage.
This is a commercial role with strategic influence. Reporting directly to the CCO, you will act as a trusted deputy — stepping in to lead the commercial function when required and contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business.
This role suits someone who is equally comfortable presenting to C-suite executives as they are rolling up their sleeves to progress a deal from first contact to signed contract.
Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across international markets, with a particular focus on the chemical and engineering sectors, targeting clients generating precious metal-bearing waste streams
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospects, from initial outreach through to contract signing, capturing information in a CRM diligently
- Negotiate and co-manage commercial contracts, ensuring terms are commercially sound, aligning with company objectives, together with the CCO
- Represent Seloxium at national and international trade events, conferences, and client meetings
Account Management
- Manage and grow relationships with existing clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key contacts, striving for high levels of client satisfaction and long-term retention
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and commodity price movements to identify commercial risk and opportunity
Strategy & Commercial Support
- Prepare and present compelling business cases, proposals, and pitches to senior stakeholders
- Help prepare board-level reporting, forecasts and strategic presentations as required
Requirements
Essential
- Proven commercial experience in a business development or sales role, ideally within the chemical, engineering, precious metals, mining, waste processing, or adjacent industrial sectors
- Extensive demonstrable business development experience (at least 5 years preferred), with a track record of winning and growing complex B2B accounts with long sales cycles
- Experience negotiating and managing commercial contracts
- A strong track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and closing complex, high-value deals
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or similar)
Desirable
- Experience working across global markets
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders in mining or resources businesses
- Familiarity with precious metal markets, commodity pricing or waste-to-value processes

About Seloxium Limited
Seloxium is a metals recovery spin-out from the University of Oxford that provides materials and services for the selective recovery of valuable metals from industrial waste for mining, refining and recycling companies. Its proprietary technology, Selectal, is used to purify and recover target metals from complex effluent and waste streams that would otherwise be discharged. The company operates an R&D laboratory and office base in Oxford and a pilot processing plant at the Wilton Centre in Teesside, North East England.
