Location: Dartford Contract type: Full Time, Permanent Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 8am–5pm Monday to Friday Salary: £47,000 per annum, plus car allowance
About the Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial performance of our contracts, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards. You will take ownership of cost control, budget management, valuations, and final accounts, providing accurate financial oversight throughout the contract lifecycle.
Working closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors, you will manage subcontractor accounts from procurement through to payment certification, negotiate commercial agreements, and ensure compliance with contractual and financial controls. You'll be responsible for producing timely and accurate invoicing, monitoring key performance indicators, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing valuable commercial insight to support business objectives.
This is a varied and rewarding role that requires strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Alongside maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety and company compliance, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the successful delivery of services across the business.
Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Strong knowledge of cost management, valuations, variations, forecasting, and contract administration
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts, payments, and final accounts
- Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
- Experience within Construction and Social Housing
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or Schedule of Rates (SOR) contracts
- Full UK driving licence preferred

Requirements for Driving Mears Vehicles
To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
