About National Gas

National Gas owns and operates Britain's gas National Transmission System (NTS), a roughly 5,000-mile (nearly 5,000 miles) high-pressure pipeline network that transports gas across Britain to power stations, major industries, storage facilities, businesses and homes. The organisation comprises three businesses — National Gas Transmission, National Gas Services and National Gas Metering — and is developing infrastructure to transport hydrogen and carbon dioxide as part of a net zero transition. The business was formed when National Grid sold its UK gas transmission and metering division to a Macquarie-led consortium, with the company beginning to operate as National Gas Transmission plc on 31 January 2023.
