
Senior Quantity Surveyor (CI&U - PMCM)

We are looking for talented Quantity Surveyors, Cost Managers and Commercial Managers to join our growing Civil Infrastructure and Utilities team in Manchester.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying (QS), Cost and Commercial Management services to a diverse client base. You will support projects ranging in size and complexity, providing expertise across estimating, cost planning, procurement, cost assurance, and post-contract financial and commercial management.

Responsibilities
Depending on your experience and seniority, you could be involved in:
- Delivering Quantity Surveying, Cost and Commercial Management services across a broad portfolio of projects
- Leading project teams and providing commercial leadership
- Mentoring and developing colleagues within the team
- Supporting bids and proposals, helping to secure new opportunities
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Representing WSP at industry events and networking opportunities
- Driving innovation and best practice across project delivery
Your team
You will join a diverse and expanding team of Quantity Surveyors, Cost Managers, Commercial Managers and related professionals working across multiple sectors. You will be part of our Project Management and Commercial Management (PMCM) business, a team of approximately 500 professionals across the UK delivering:
- Quantity Surveying, Cost and Commercial Management services
- Programme and Project Management
- Project Controls
Our teams support both building and infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients.
Within PMCM, you will work in our Civil Infrastructure and Utilities group. Our wider PMCM business also includes:
- Property & Buildings
- Programme Solutions
- Rail
Based from our Manchester office, you will work in a hybrid environment, combining office collaboration, home working and travel to client and project sites as required.

Essential requirements
- MRICS, AssocRICS, or are working towards a relevant professional qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable knowledge, capability and experience across Quantity Surveying, Cost and Commercial Management competencies
- For senior-level roles, proven management, project leadership and delivery experience
Desirable requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail
- An adaptable and flexible approach to workload and priorities
- An alternative relevant professional qualification, or working towards one (e.g. CICES, AcostE)
- Experience delivering Quantity Surveying, Cost and Commercial Management services within the public sector and/or on heavy industry projects
- Ability to travel to project sites, client offices, WSP offices and other project locations
- A passion for making a difference and contributing to a dynamic, collaborative team
- A degree or equivalent higher education qualification
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A willingness to challenge the status quo and explore innovative solutions
- Familiarity with specialist software such as CostX and CEMAR
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts and other industry-standard forms of contract
- Experience collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Previous experience in a consultant, contractor or client-side QS, Cost or Commercial Management role, particularly within water, energy, environment, infrastructure or transportation sectors
